A muslin disc is a type of polishing (grinding) cloth disc used for the final polishing of various materials, from metals to plastics and glass.
Muslin is a thin cotton fabric (similar to soft cotton or calico) used to make multi-layered discs. The fabric sheets are stitched and formed into a disc, sometimes with additional reinforcement (for example, stitching at the center or impregnation).
Muslin wheels are used for finishing and polishing applications where a smooth, shiny, scratch-free surface is required.
Muslin wheels are often used in conjunction with polishing pastes such as GOI, Dialux, Menzerna, Mirror Finish, and others.

Muslin Wheel Hardness/Softness Classes
Hardness depends on the fabric type, stitching method, and impregnation. There are generally 3 classes:
Hard (H)
Characteristic: Tightly stitched, may be impregnated.
Use: Pre-polishing, removing small scratches.
Medium (M)
Characteristic: A compromise between removal and shine.
Use: General-purpose polishing.
Soft (S)
Characteristic: Unimpregnated, with sparse stitching.
Use: Polishing mirrors and optical surfaces
